2010 - The Two Gentlemen of Verona
Scene - In and Around the Town of Verona and the City of Milan
Time - Circa 1960

Director -- Lane Davies
This is the 4th production of 'Two Gents' that I've worked on, and I'm not quite sure where the idea originated. I actually think I was looking at a map of Tennessee, realized that there was a town actually called Verona in the state, and the idea for the Country & Western setting hit me. Other pieces started falling into place. My costume designer, Jamie Scott, had practically grown up on Printer's Alley, and knew everything about the era I had in mind; Matthew Carlton came on board with his vast music knowledge and ingenious sense of parody; company members responded enthusiastically. In the process that followed,Shakespeare's textremained relatively unharmed, and we had almost too much fun with this concept. We hope that you will, too.

Matthew Carlton's parody lyrics for 'Two Gents' are so clever, we wanted to share them with our audience. Matthew calls them Mattabethan". If Shakespeare had written Rockabully and country music, I'll bet they would have been pretty close to Matt's.
