Lane Davies to Lead Tennessee Shakespeare Festival |
|
| |
| The Board of
Director's of the new Tennessee Shakespeare Festival
have named actor-Director Lane Davies as the
Artistic Director of the new company. Perhaps best
known for sardonic roles in television comedy and
drama, (most recently on Scrubs as ‘Dr. Simon
Reid’), during 30 years as a stage actor, Davies has
performed such roles as Hamlet, Macbeth, Richard
III, King Lear, Petruchio, Henry V and Cyrano de
Bergerac in companies from San Diego to Providence,
Rhode Island. Nashville audiences saw him last year
as John Barrymore in Tennessee Repertory Theatre's
production of “I Hate Hamlet”. He has worked as a
consultant, writer and producer for Walt Disney
Attractions on projects for Tokyo Disney Sea and
EuroDisney. As Artistic Director for the Santa
Susana Repertory Company, a professional resident
theater company in Ventura County, Lane produced
and/or directed over 40 productions and guided the
company from its inception. He also founded the
Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival in Thousand Oaks, now
in its 12th season. Davies has been on the
Festival's Steering Committee since its inception! |

|
According to Board President Rodney Simmons, "The
Board feels that Lane brings the ideal combination
of experience, creativity, and leadership to the
festival. We want to establish ourselves as a
professional company from the outset, and Lane is
the perfect person to do that."
